To be completely honest, the idea for Get Daddy Some Gin didn’t appear to me in the bottom of a nice tall cold class of gin and tonic (my favourite, by the way). No, it actually came to me after my wife (my Hun) showed me to this website called CalgaryDaddy.com. I was intrigued. I was inspired. And so it was that because of you, Shane Byciuk of CalgaryDaddy.com, that I write this today. Therefore, it’s only appropriate that the inaugural “5 Questions” series in the Contributions section be a quick five questions with non other than Shane himself. Thanks Shane.
Why did you start CalgaryDaddy.com?
I had been authoring a political blog ( www.calgaryrants.com) for over a year, so I was familiar with the medium. I really was impressed with some of the amazing “Mom Bloggers” that were out there, but saw that there really were not that many Dad Bloggers! I figured it would be a great way to share my journey while providing a few laughs along the way!
What are your five hot tips for running a great blog?
I am not a professional, so you are asking the wrong guy! To me, the most important things are: 1) Write Often. 2) Don’t Take Yourself too seriously. 3) Engage your readers 4) Be patient…it takes time for people to find you. 5) Write Often! ( I cannot stress this enough…)
What’s your favourite thing to do with your son, Kyron?
I like hanging out with him early in the morning, before I head off to work. I love going for walks with him in my neighborhood! He is only Six Months old, but I cannot wait to take him to the park and play!
What have you learned the most since becoming a daddy dude?
That it is the most important thing you will ever do in your life. I also have learned that you must help Mom as much as you can.
What’s your favourite drink (alcoholic or not. Preferably alcoholic)?
Spiced Rum and Diet….. or a triple Black Russian!
You can catch Shane writing about being a dad and his little one, Kyron at CalgaryDaddy.com. His weekly Wordless Wednesdays are a real treat and you can always expect a fab contest to take part in. And be sure to follow Shane on Twitter @CalgaryDaddy.
Thanks Shane for the contribution. If anyone would like to contribute to Get Daddy Some Gin, whether it be an article, guest appearance, song and dance, artwork, photos, haiku, or just want to say hi, let me know.

Thanks for sharing this. We’re always looking for great resources to share with clients and my colleagues, and this post is absolutely worth sharing!
